Project Story: This colossal redevelopment of the existing Elizabeth Vale Lyell McEwin Hospital grounds — costing $96M and involving 35,000 square metres of updated hospital facilities — incorporated replacement of all core hospital functions including medical imaging, emergency department, operating theatres, and hospital infrastructure.

The new facilities were delivered so that health services were not interrupted throughout the redevelopment process thanks to a thoughtful site Master Plan developed by Cheesman Architects which also ensured an optimum hospital layout.

This project was recognised both locally and nationally for excellence across multiple disciplines and has set new standards in low energy and sustainable design principles for health buildings in Australia.
